FAQ

What is Aura EZ?
Aura EZ is a 4K TV recorder optimised for live TV and recording using the Freely platform. It combines terrestrial (DTT) channels and IP-delivered channels into a single, easy-to-use channel list, focusing on a simple and intuitive TV viewing experience without the need for complex app installation.
Is Aura EZ a direct successor to the Aura (FVP-4K)?
No. Aura EZ is not a direct replacement or upgrade for the Aura (FVP-4K). It is a different product line with a different purpose.

• Aura (FVP-4K)
Google-certified Android TV device, focused on apps and OTT services.

• Aura EZ (FHR-6000T)
Freely-based TV recorder, focused on live TV, catch-up, and recording.
Can I install apps like Prime Video, Disney+, or Netflix on Aura EZ?
No. Aura EZ is built on Android AOSP (open-source platform) and does not include Google certification (Android TV / Google Play Services). As a result, global OTT apps such as Prime Video, Disney+, and Netflix are not available on Aura EZ.
What does “On-Demand” mean on Aura EZ?
“On-Demand” on Aura EZ refers to UK broadcaster catch-up services provided via Freely, such as:
  • BBC iPlayer
  • ITVX
  • Channel 4
  • Channel 5
This does not mean third-party global streaming services. All on-demand content is provided directly by participating UK broadcasters.
What is the difference between Freely and Freeview+?
Freely is a new-generation TV platform developed by Everyone TV, building on the strengths of Freeview+ while enhancing the experience with IP-delivered channels. With Freely:
  • Some channels are delivered via terrestrial broadcast (DTT)
  • Some channels are delivered as IP channels via the internet
However, viewers do not need to distinguish between them. All channels appear in one unified channel list, allowing seamless channel switching. Freely also offers deeper integration with broadcaster players such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX, making it easier to move between live TV and catch-up content.
Can I record all channels on Aura EZ?
No.
  • Terrestrial (DTT) channels → Recording and scheduled recording supported
  • IP channels (Freely channels) → Recording is not supported due to content restrictions
Can I start recording while watching live TV?
Yes, for recordable DTT channels. To record a programme:
  1. Press the MENU button
  2. Open Recording Guide
  3. Find the programme you want and select Record or Schedule Recording
Instant recording is not available for IP channels.
Why are the channel lists different in Freely Guide and Recording Guide?
The two guides serve different purposes.
  • Freely Guide
    • Includes both IP and DTT channels
    • Designed for viewing and catch-up
  • Recording Guide
    • Shows only DTT channels that can be recorded
Because IP channels cannot be recorded, they do not appear in the Recording Guide. Example:
  • ITV1 HD (Channel 3) → IP-based Freely channel (not recordable)
  • ITV1 HD (Channel 233) → Terrestrial DTT channel (recordable)
Future software updates will continue to improve clarity and usability.8
Can I pause live TV or restart programmes?
This depends on whether Freely is enabled.
  • When Freely is enabled
    • IP channels → Pause is supported
    • Some DTT channels → “Restart” (start from the beginning) is available
    • Traditional Time Shift Recording (TSR) is limited
How can I use full Time Shift Recording (TSR)?
To use traditional TSR functionality, Freely must be disabled: Menu → Live TV Preferences → Enable Freely → Deactivate Please note that disabling Freely will also disable Freely-only features, including IP channels and the Freely user interface.
What happens if I disable Freely?
If Freely is disabled:
  • The Freely user interface is no longer available
  • Aura EZ operates using the native FHR-6000T interface
  • All IP channels are removed from the channel list
Most IP channels have equivalent terrestrial DTT versions, but the channel numbers may change.
Can I re-enable Freely later?
Yes. Freely can be re-enabled at any time: Menu → Live TV Preferences → Enable Freely → Activate
Is there a mobile app available for Aura EZ?
At present, the Aura EZ mobile app is still under development, and a release date has not yet been confirmed. Until the app is available, all recording and viewing functions are managed directly on the Aura EZ device. When the mobile app is released, updates will be announced via official Humax channels and software updates.

(Planned features – subject to change)
Once released, the Aura EZ mobile app is expected to support:
  • TV guide and programme information
  • Recording scheduling and management
  • Limited live TV streaming within the home network
  • Device pairing and account-based features
Is the original Aura (FVP-4K) still supported?
Yes. Although the Aura (FVP-4K) has been discontinued, technical support for existing customers remains available. Aura EZ does not replace Aura; it is a separate product designed for a different viewing experience.
